3 contributing factors to neck pain!

???? 3 contributing factors to your neck pain ????

Have you just “put up with” your neck pain for a long time, you feel like you’ve tried everything but have not seen ANY long term results?

Are you sick and tired of this?

Would you like to know what else there is?

More often than not there are contributing factors to your neck pain that you may not have considered are connected. Perhaps you’ve been relying on constant hands-on work to give you that temporary relief every couple of weeks. Hands on work feels great, it gives you the short term benefit of less tension and pain, but lacks the long term solution of building a strong foundation in your neck!

I wanted to pop down in back & white some of the most common contributing factors to neck pain that I see here in the clinic on a daily basis.

Having a sore neck may be common, but it’s certainly not “normal”.

You may be surprised to learn that the strength of your neck and the surrounding joints can have significant impact on how often you experience pain, after all if you don’t have the strong foundations to support, how is your neck and head meant to be 100%

Here are 3 of the most common contributing factors I see daily!

???? You’ve got a stiff mid back!

The stiffness of your mid back can have significant affect on your neck.

Everything is connected!

We spend so much time on computer screens these days, hunched over a desk, phones and so on. This leads to a subtle rounding of our mid back, which in turn puts more pressure on the neck when facing a screen or phone. In this day and age working with and on technology is basically unavoidable. This is why we need to be smart about how we work, make sure to move your body and get up during your work day so that your body is not sitting in the constantly stagnant position.

What you need to do here is improve the rotation and extension of your mid back, creating a strong foundation for your neck. Working on your mid back rotation will help free up your neck and provide flexibility in your movements.

???? Lack of strength in the shoulders & mid back.

Lack of strength in these two areas means that your neck has no solid foundation to rely on. Without the support it needs to remain strong and stable the neck will suffer and you will likely encounter problems down the line, if not already. The main point to remember here is that everything is connected and works together. If one area is weak then there are side effects elsewhere.

???? Reliance on hands on work

If you’re consistently going to get hands on work to your neck every few weeks, to loosen off the tension, you’ll feel better in the short term and get relief. however without adding strength work into your routine, the pain will just keep coming back and your short term solution will be needed more often A constant “tune uP” may be common but is not normal.
