Got a pain the neck?
Are you finding you’re getting reoccurring neck pain?
Tension headaches?
Neck pain can be super frustrating and can really put out your day!
The most handy tool I find for quick or on the go neck pain relief is through using a lacrosse ball.
It’s completely pocket sized and perfect for when you’re looking for relief from the tension you are feeling in your neck and perhaps into your head!
I HIGHLY recommend having a lacrosse ball handy, especially for those that suffer from reoccurring neck pain!
1. Upper trap release:
-
Stand near a wall or find a comfortable place to sit.
-
Place the lacrosse ball between your upper trap (the muscle running from the back of your neck to your shoulder).
-
Gently lean into the ball, allowing it to apply pressure to the tight or tender spots.
-
You can turn your head slightly to target different areas of the muscle.
-
Hold the pressure for about 30 seconds or until you feel the muscle release.
-
Repeat on the other side.
2. Suboccipital Release:
-
Sit in a chair or on the floor and place the lacrosse ball at the base of your skull.
-
Lean back against a wall or headrest and let the ball apply pressure to the sub-occipital muscles.
-
Hold the pressure for about 30 seconds or until you feel the tension release.
-
You can gently turn your head from side to side to target specific sub-occipital muscles
Remember, these exercises should not cause pain. If you experience significant discomfort or pain, stop the exercise immediately.
Perform the movements slowly and mindfully, and avoid putting excessive pressure on the neck area.
